The staff at Midway Fire Rescue spent part of this month training to deal with situations involving hazardous materials. The training scenario entailed crews responding to an unknown gas leak from a container truck, said Chief Doug Eggiman. Emergency responders had to dress out in level A suits, access and identify the gas, identify evacuation and treatment plans, and stop the leak.

“Honestly, this training is probably the best we have held at MFR in a long time with HazMat,” said Battalion Chief Brent McClellan. “It was very realistic and encompassed a huge amount of work and tools.”
