MFR Units Respond to Serious Accident

Midway Fire Rescue units responded to the southern intersection of Highway 17 Bypass and Highway 17 Business for an accident with entrapment. Engine 811 and Medic 815 arrived with Murrells Inlet-Garden City Fire and Horry County already working on a two vehicle accident with numerous injuries with a single patient entrapped. The crews worked to free the entrapped pateint along with transporting the other pateints immediatly to local hospitals.

One man is dead and five others were rushed to the hospital following a crash involving two vehicles that occurred at approximately 8 p.m. Thursday in Murrells Inlet.

S.C. Highway Patrol Cpl. Bob Berres confirms the two vehicle accident occurred at the southern intersection of Highway 17 Bypass and Highway 17 Business. Berres said the driver of a Chrysler 300 was driving south and was trying to cross onto Highway 17 Business when the collision with a Chevy Trailblazer took place.

The impact caused the Chrysler to overturn. The driver of that vehicle was killed and the four passengers inside that vehicle were taken to the hospital.

The driver of the Trailblazer was alone at the time of the crash and was also hospitalized.
