MLK Accident with Entrapment

This morning, Midway Fire Rescue was dispatched to Ocean Highway and Martin Luther King Road for an accident with rollover. Engine 811, Medic 815 and Rescue 816 responded with the Battalion Chief. Once crews responded, updated information reported entrapment which added Ladder 821, Chief 2 & Chief 3.

Battalion 82 also requested a helicopter due to the update of entrapment.

Midway units arrived on location with a single vehicle into a drainage ditch on its roof with possibly two patients inside. The crews stabilized the vehicle and started removing the passenger door to gain access to the patients. Chief 2 established Ocean Highway Command with an extended extrication. Battalion 82 set up operations in which he directed crews working the scene. Once the door was removed, the crews found just a single occupant with injuries.

Chief 3 coordinated the landing zone handing the helicopter just near the accident scene. The crews worked for 30 minutes until the patient was extricated and patient care was transferred to the Med-Evac Helicopter crew that arrived on scene.
