Fire Hydrant Flushing and Maintenance

Starting this week, under a cooperative agreement with Georgetown County Water and Sewer, MFR Personnel will start inspecting of all the 1,195 fire hydrants in the 80 square miles that Midway Fire Rescue covers. Midway Fire Rescue like every fire department around the world, values working fire hydrants when they are needed for an emergency.

The crews will make sure the area around the hydrant is clear of fences, vehicles, growth, trash, storage and other materials or objects that may cause the crews from not making a proper connection during an emergency.

Midway Fire Rescue states at least three feet of clear space shall be maintained around the circumference of the fire hydrant.

Remember: Fire Hydrants are the main source of fire suppression for your property and your neighbors in case of an emergency.
