Warm Saturday Brings Accidents

This afternoon, MFR units responded to two vehicle accidents with injuries. The first accident came in the early afternoon. Midway Fire Rescue units responded to Hagley Drive and Kings River Road for a accident with injuries with the vehicle possibly on fire. Engine 821, Tower 814, Medic 825 and Battalion Chief responded immediately with central dispatch reporting that the Sheriff department was on scene confirming a working vehicle fire. Chief 2 (AFC Crawford) arrived confirming the report with one injury and a telephone pole sheared off with wires down establishing Hagley Drive command. MFR units arrived on location deploying a single handline and starting patient care. The patient was quickly loaded and transported to (Grand Strand) trauma center for evaluation. Santee Cooper arrived on location securing the power to the live wires and the fire was extinguished minutes later by MFR crews. Once all hazards were controlled, command marked control. MFR units were on scene for about two hours.

As crews were wrapping up the vehicle accident on Hagley Drive, Midway Fire Rescue units were dispatched to Ocean Highway and Hobcaw Road for a vehicle accident with injuries. Engine 831 responded and was advised of a two vehicle accident with one injury. Engine 831 arrived on location with a two vehicle accident blocking both lanes confirming one injury. Medic 815 and Battalion 83 arrived on location with Battalion 83 establishing command. The crews started patient care and securing any hazards. Once Medic 815 arrived on location, the crews packaged and loaded the patient for transport to Georgetown Hospital. Once all hazards were secured the crews awaited SC Highway Patrol and the Tow Company. Once the vehicles were removed, command was terminated and the roadway was opened.
